Have you ever had a healthcare provider look at you in judgment because of something that you knew immediately you did wrong? This happened to me today. I should've known Melissa wasn't getting enough sleep. I should've known there were too many people visiting for far too long. The RN who taught our parenting classes ended up being the lactation consultant who administered our mother-baby wellness exam. I was left in the waiting room while Melissa went back to discuss the last couple of days after Max was born. I could sense something was wrong by the amount of time it took until Susan (the RN) emerged with eyes of concern and questions about Melissa's well being. I was humiliated. And rightfully so. Melissa felt bad that I felt so bad but I explained that I believe certain situations and actions require one to be humbled for important and necessary changes to take place. This was definitely one of those situations.
